Local Rose Society Membership: Gold Country Rose Society
Other Society’s & Groups: Sacramento, Sierra Foothills, & Mother Lode Rose Societies, and The Heritage Roses Group
Years Growing Roses: 26
How I Started with Roses: When we moved to our hilltop, there was no landscaping other than the native trees and shrubs. We started with a few roses but since I have an addictive personality a few weren’t enough! We had 3 acres so it seemed like "there was always room for 1 more rose". We recently moved from our hilltop in Newcastle to Sun City in Roseville. We've gone from being farmers to being gardeners again --a much more sensible thing. We are presently deciding which roses we will plant in our new garden--a wonderful dilemma!
Profession: I graduated from The University of Oregon with a BA in Education and from California State University, Sacramento with a MA in Special Education. I retired from teaching elementary school reading in Oregon and California, after 30 years-- the last 23 in Penryn, California. I now grow Mandarin Oranges commercially and roses for fun!
Rose Society Offices: Currently NCNH Deputy District Director; ARS Master Rosarian and Horticulture Judge; President, Gold Country Rose Society; Consulting Rosarian Co-Chair, Sierra Foothills Rose Society. Previously Vice President, Board Member, Rose Show Co-Chair, Gold Country; Consulting Rosarian Co-Chair, Sacramento Rose Society; Board Member, Sierra Foothills Rose Society.
