Other Society’s & Groups: California Native Plant Society, Redding Chapter; and a Redding book club called Dames and Nobles
Years Growing Roses: 15
How I Started with Roses: My husband and I had a few roses at our previous house in Livermore. When we retired and moved to the Redding area, there were 35 rose bushes in front…being eaten by deer on a daily basis. We moved the roses to the back, making a more formal rose garden, and added a deer fence. Only a few of our roses had names attached, but we wanted to know all their names, if possible. We contacted the Shasta Rose Society to see if someone could tell us some names, and they did. The SRS October rose show was the next day, and at the urging of Bob Parker, I entered a beautiful ‘Sheer Bliss’. It won a blue ribbon…and rest is history. I was hooked!
Profession: Administrative Assistant at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (Secretary-retired in October of 1995. )
Rose Society Offices: Currently NCNH District Secretary; Consulting Rosarian; Horticulture Judge Apprentice, and Secretary of Shasta Rose Society. Have been SRS Secretary, Director, Treasurer, Rose Show Chair, and Garden Tour Chair and had every committee job there is. I was the Bronze Medal winner in 2001.
